Voter Registration

In order to register to vote, you must be a U.S. Citizen, at least 18 years old by election day, and a resident of Michigan.

Michigan voters must use the same residential address for voter registration and driver’s license purposes. Consequently, if you submit a driver’s license address change, it will be applied to your voter registration. Similarly, if you submit a voter registration address change, it will be applied to your driver’s license.

Complete a voter registration application (available under LINKS below) and submit it by mail or in person to any of the following: Clinton County Clerk’s Office (Saint Johns); Victor Township Clerk’s Office (6843 E. Alward Rd., Laingsburg, Michigan 48848); or any Michigan Secretary of State Branch office. Several state agencies and military offices also provide registration services.

You may register on election day at your clerk’s office with proof of residency and be eligible to vote that day. You must also re-register to vote whenever you move to a new city or township.

If you move within a city or township, you must update your address. This can be handled through your local clerk, at a Secretary of State branch office, by mail or at any other location where voter registrations are accepted.

A properly registered voter may obtain an absentee voter ballot for any election.

To request an AV Ballot, complete a request form available on-line at www.michigan.gov/sos (Elections/Info for Voters/Absentee Voting), on the bulletin board at the front entrance of the township hall, or by mail. To receive a copy by mail, call or email the Victor Township Clerk,

The voter may choose to vote in person instead of absentee in any election by simply not returning the application and attending the polls on election day.
